Patricia (Pat) Redding started teaching high school computer science and pre engineering for Evergreen School District in Vancouver, Washington in 2009, after a 26-year career as an engineering manager at a high tech company. She has taught at both Mountain View High School and Union High School and presently teaches Advanced Placement Computer Science A and an Introduction to Computer Programming course at Mountain View. She has been a reader for the AP Computer Science A Exam and she has also taught the ‘Project Lead the Way’ Principles of Engineering and Digital Electronics courses. Pat strongly encourages her students to experience computer science and engineering outside the classroom. Her students have participated in the OCSTA (Oregon Computer Science Teachers Association) Willamette University Programming Contest, internships at SEH and Columbia Ultimate and in Saturday Academy’s ASE internship program. Pat’s students have gone on to pursue STEM careers with attendance at a variety of universities, including University of Washington, Washington State University, Clark College, Willamette University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Southern California, Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard and Cornell. Pat has her BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and Colorado State University, respectively, and her CTE Teacher Certification from Bates Technical College.
