Rifat Ara P.

Rifat is a Ph.D. student at the University of Utah. She was born in Bangladesh. She completed her Bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering at the Military Institute of Science and Technology(MIST), Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2019. After that, she worked as a software engineer for two years. Later on, in pursuing higher studies, she moved to the United States of America, where she got her Master's degree at the University of South Florida. During this time, she was also a graduate research assistant in the Data Visualization Lab, where she got to work on different types of projects that intended to solve various problems using data visualization. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. at the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute at the University of Utah. Her research interest lies in information visualization and human-computer interaction. Currently, she is focusing on determining different ways to mitigate visual clutters in line charts. She also tries to understand what people focus on or care about while seeing line charts. Her goal is to come up with guidelines for visualization designers to empower them to design more efficient and trustworthy line charts that are capable of achieving specific objectives.
