Daisy M.

Daisy has been awarded the NCWIT award since her freshman year. From the moment, she was introduced to programming as a 12 year old girl she has competed in First Lego League Robotics, First Robotics Competition, and First Tech Challenge. Now, she is 16 year junior still carrying her dreams of attending college and becoming a software developer. She has been recognized as one of 12 girls in Arizona to receive the Visionary Girl award. Last year, she developed a mobile application that received regional & state recognition in Future Business Leaders of America organization, and received approval of her school district to release it in the Google Play store for school usage. Her passion with code has led for her to participate in several hackathons developing applications from monitoring diabetes to controlling the amount of money one spends on an Air Conditioner running. Daisy has been invited to speak at several conferences covering topics of technology, education, and the rise of STEAM. She now stands as an ambassador for #ItWasNeverADress organization promoting young girls to enter the field of computer science. During the day, she attends her regular high school, and in the evenings she attends the West-MEC coding program learning several commonly used languages such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Jquery, and more. She is now a sophomore at Grand Canyon University, majoring in Computer Science w/ an emphasis in Big Data Analytics.
