Aspirations in Computing Parent/Guardian Approval: Step-by-Step Guide

Parent/guardian approval is required for a student under the age of 18 to join the AiC Community. Students are prompted to request parent/guardian approval from their aspirations.org account dashboard via an automated email. The steps below outline what to do next.

 

If you do not have an email address, skip ahead to Step 3.

Step 1: Read the Approval E-mail​

• The email subject is: ACTION REQUIRED: Approve Your Teen’s Participation in the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Program
• The email sender is: [email protected]
  

• If you did not receive an email from aspirations.org, have your child/ward follow the on-screen instructions on their dashboard to resend the email to you. Please be sure to check your junk and spam folders.
  
• If you continue not to receive any e-mails from aspirations.org, please follow the instructions in Step 3. 

Step 2: Complete the Online Approval Form

• Click on the unique approval link in the email, which is attached to your teen's account.
• You will be directed to agree to and sign the following affirmations:
  • I have read, understand, and agree to the rules for participation, and confirm my child’s eligibility for the AiC Program as set forth at this page: https://www.aspirations.org/get-involved/join-the-aic-community
  • I have read and agree to the Consent and Release Form: https://www.aspirations.org/consent-and-release-form-applicants-and-parents
  • I have read and agree to the Terms of Use: https://www.aspirations.org/terms and Privacy Policy: https://www.aspirations.org/privacy
  • I have read and agree to the Aspirations in Computing Code of Conduct: https://www.aspirations.org/AIC_Community_Code 
  • I am the parent/legal guardian of the applicant, provide my permission for their participation in this program, and am competent enough to testify of my own knowledge of the facts stated herein.
• If you agree to the terms and conditions, select your relationship with the teen and then type your name into the text field onscreen. 

​Step 3: Download the Approval Form​​

• For parents and guardians who do not have an email address or are unable to receive emails from aspirations.org, you have the option to download the approval forms and send a signed copy to NCWIT via fax or email.
• Download, print, and read the approval documents in English or Spanish. If you agree to the terms and conditions described in the documents, please sign them.
• Fax the signed form to: “ATTN: AiC Award” at 303-735-6606, or 
• Scan/photograph your signed document and email the file to us at [email protected]
