Coral Riley attended UNC Charlotte for an Undergraduate in English Education and taught at South Rowan High School for 3 years while pursuing her Masters in Library and Information Science at UNC Greensboro. She then taught for 3 years in Stanley County at a K-8 while earning her National Board Certification. Then she worked at an "At-Risk" Elementary School in Charlotte, however after teaching for 7 years she took time off to be with her kids and launched Lake Norman Woman Magazine to celebrate the success of local women in her community. She also owned her own photography, event planning, and marketing and promotional company that she launched while teaching and working on her National Boards. In this time she developed a passion for technology, web design, photography, and computer science so she decided to go back into the classroom at Statesville High School to help launch the AP Computer Science Principles and Adobe Visual Design Programs. She has spent the four years at Pine Lake Preparatory working to launch the AP CSP, CS-A and CS discoveries, Cybersecurity/AI, and Computer Science Capstone courses at the Middle and High School level. In addition she launched "Girls Who Code" and has coached the FRC robotics team , Team SPORK for the last three years. In addition to mentoring and teaching she was honored by the AP College Board for being top 600 schools out of 18,000 for diversity in the AP-CS courses due to high female enrollment. Furthermore, she also serves as a scorer for AP College board during the summer in addition to offering summer camps for coding at the schools campus. In her free time she can be found spending time with her amazing children. Coral also leads a woman's book club called, "Mom's on a Mission", volunteers at her church, is involved in Cycle to the Sea where she rides 180 miles as an assist rider for paralyzed hand cyclists. She is an avid yoga and extreme sports participant and you can find her striving towards the next challenge. Her other passions include painting, reading for personal development, and mentoring young leaders in the community.
