After earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology at UCSD, Dr. Tracy Nguyen conferred her Doctorate from Southern California College of Optometry. She currently works in private practice and enjoys volunteering for FIRST Robotics -as a Business and Outreach mentor for Team Spyder, FLL Core Value Judge, FIRST Championship Photographer, FTC Dean's List Interviewer, PHS NCWIT Co-Advisor, and SWE Counselor for PHS SWENext Club. She attributes her passion for supporting girls in STEM to her daughter who participated in FLL in 6th grade, went on to FTC in 7th grade and joined FRC Team Spyder as a motivated 8th grader. She is passionate about promoting FIRST with an emphasis on serving the underserved and socio-economic disadvantaged communities. You will often find her devoting hundreds of hours annually to advance STEM Education for all youth especially the underrepresented. Dr. Nguyen is a strong advocate of STEM Diversity and promoter of Women in Engineering and encourages students to be a positive FIRST role model in practicing Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition. Dr. Nguyen was nominated for the Woodie Flowers award in 2020, an award reserved for dedicated mentors on FIRST Robotics Competitions Teams. She is also humbled to be the recipient of SWE's Engaged Advocate Award for We Local 2021.
