Soleil is a senior at the Advanced Math and Science Academy. She is also the president and founder of her school’s Black Student Union. Outside of BSU, she is a mentor and student liaison for computer science outreach at her school as well as Junior Captain of both the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams. She also competes for her school’s Speech and Debate team in interpretation. When she is not doing something for school she loves to spend time with her little brother or, like all speechies, scour the internet for new and more interesting pieces. Her greatest technical accomplishment so far was the creation of Lexi's Carnival, a mobile application that was designed to help children with literary and mathematical dyslexia. For this app, her and her team received offers from companies such as Fisher-Price and Hasbro to further develop the app. She is very interested in the effects of social media on adolescents and how it affects the rising depression in teens and how technological intervention in medicine can further the benefits and effectiveness of procedures and treatments. She hopes that in the future she can find a way to use technology and medicine in tandem in order to better people's everyday lives.
