Sarah is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a magnet school in Virginia. She first became interested in computer science in middle school and has since pursued this passion by participating in the USA Computing Olympiad, where she is in Gold Division, and her school’s Intermediate Computer Team to gain a better algorithmic understanding of computer science. Sarah is also the Lead Sponsorship Coordinator and Invoice manager of the Executive HackTJ Team, which plans an annual 24-hour coding event that attracts over 500 attendees from all over the East Coast. Sarah is also fascinated with biology and chemistry and is especially interested in learning how computer science can be applied to these fields. Aside from computer science, Sarah is an athlete on her school’s varsity dance team and part of the TJ Science Olympiad team. In addition, she enjoys fostering girls’ interest in stem through her school’s Women Interested in Science and Engineering (WISE) club and volunteering at her local senior home.
