Sahana has explored her passion for engineering and cardiac physiology at the Cardiovascular Biomechanics Computation Lab at Stanford University and the Cardiac Mechanics Research Group at UCSD over the past three years in various projects involving Python programming, cell-signaling pathway generation, and 3D-printing cardiac models. She is currently a senior at Francis Parker high school and is the president of her school's Robotics, Science Olympiad, and Math Olympiad teams. She has taught students ranging from six to fourteen years old about science, engineering, and writing with the Elementary Institute of Science and Malcolm X Library in San Diego, which both serve communities without well-funded programs, especially STEM programs. She is a published author of two novels (Rain of Blood, 2015 and Cave of Mystic Dreams, 2013) which have won a total of seven national awards. Sahana plans to major in electrical engineering and computer science and pursue a career in creating medical devices to improve healthcare.
