Mira is a junior at Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, Arizona. Mira started learning Java and Python online in middle school – since then, she's won first place awards in the Arizona State University 9-Up Robotics Camp and Girls Make-a-Thon. Last summer, she interned with the medical data science company NextMed, where she developed AI programs that predicted diagnoses for kidney stone patients. This year, she entered the Google Science Fair with her independent project "Predict for Pneumonia", a machine learning program that predicts pneumonia patients' length of stay in the ICU. Mira volunteers at middle school robotics programs, local hospitals, and the Tucson Festival of Books. She's currently learning about the applications of artificial intelligence to linguistics and the cognitive sciences. In her free time, she enjoys singing with the Helios Ensemble and discussing the connections between sci fi and reality.
