Mindy Walski was born in Hutchinson, KS. She attended elementary and high school in Nickerson, KS. She graduated in 1992 as a Kansas Honor Scholar and attended Friends University in Wichita, KS. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and then continued on to obtain a Master of Managing Information Systems Degree. She married William Walski and began the life of a military spouse. She worked as a programmer/analyst for Protection One in Kansas, then as a Systems Analyst for Hilo Hattie in Honolulu, HI, and then decided to stay at home with her children while her husband deployed to Iraq for the 4th time while they were stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX. The Army eventually moved the family to Montgomery, AL where her husband retired after 25 yrs of service and she decided to join the education field. She went back to school at the University of West Alabama and received a Master of Science degree in Library Media and began working as a library media specialist for Montgomery Catholic Preparatory school in 2012. She inquired about teaching a computer class and was soon teaching AP Computer Science and AP Computer Science Principles. Teaching is now her passion. She loves to instruct teens on problem solving and syntax of programming in Java and Python. She was named the Air Force Association's Montgomery Chapter Teacher of the Year in 2016.
