Currently a junior in Folsom High School, Medha has displayed her passion and fascination in the STEM field ever since her elementary school years. She has participated in several science fair competitions. Her project on DNA extraction from fruits to determine the correlation of the DNA to the chromosome numbers won her the first place in the school science fair, the grand prize in the district science fair, and 4th place in the regional science fair, with a nomination to Broadcom Masters award. She worked on several other experiments in high school. Her experiment in determining the efficacy on the sterilization of E. Coli bacteria through wide spectrums of light and drought tolerant tomato plant got accepted into the International Science Fair, Genius Olympiad, at SUNY Oswego, where she won the bronze and silver medals respectively. She has been an advocate to promote the power of STEM in the community. She gave various presentations to the girls who code club. She was a leadership intern at the Camp Invention STEM program and was part of the Student Panel of Excellence in STEM Education. She has participated in the Intel WIN (Women at Intel Network) Conference, represented CTE (Career & Technical Education) in the school district as the youngest board member. Being Vice President in Technovation, Treasurer in GPS club, Public Relations Commissioner in CyberPatriot, and Correspondence Secretary in CSF (California Scholarship Federation), enables her to create connections in various schools. She teaches math and basic Ubuntu programming to elementary and middle school students. Through her CyberPatriot & Technovation clubs, she and her team competed nationally, coding in HTML, Python, Ubuntu, and Java in Android Studio. In Cyberpatriots, Medha and her team got placed in the gold tier with a ranking of 34th at the state level. She has experience in programming the NAO Robot, in back-end python, and the MindStorms. She was elected as a spokesperson to present the school’s Computer Science curriculum to Intel Employees and highlight the areas where career professionals can mentor and coach. Apart from STEM and academics, Medha is an avid Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical dance form) dancer. She completed her graduation in Bharatanatyam at the age of twelve and since then has been performing for various charity organizations nationally and internationally.
