The 2019-20 school year is Matthew’s 6th year as an educator and his second year at Episcopal Academy. At EA he has worked to expand CS interest and offerings and now Computer Science is a graduation requirement for all students. He developed his own AP CSP curriculum and has had a 95% pass rate for over 200 students since the course began. When he joined EA, the gender ratio was around 15% girls to 85% boys but with a lot of effort Episcopal Academy currently has more girls than boys taking AP CSP, with over 180 of our 500 Upper School students taking a Computer Science class. We hope to expand this success to AP CSA and our other electives. This year, Matthew had his second student win the National Honorable Mention Award. She is an amazing young woman who has really helped expand the program for other girls here at EA and we can't wait to see what she will accomplish in the future.
