I am the Computer Science teacher at W.P. Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama. I started the CS Program at Davidson in 2012 with 16 students in an Android APPS Programming Class during my planning period. This year, I am proud to say that we have over 120 enrolled in a variety of classes! As a member of the CS4AL Program lead by Dr. Jeff Gray at the University of Alabama, I taught the AP Computer Science Principles Course this fall with 45 students. Next year, we are piloting a Dual Enrollment Course with the University of South Alabama for senior students who will be taking the AP Computer Science A. Davidson is a diverse, urban school and every day I have the pleasure to teach an amazingly talented and motivating group of students. I believe that public schools have a fiduciary duty to expose students to Computer Science and Programming, as their future successes will be tied to this field in ways we cannot even imagine today.
