Mariah is currently a senior at Lane Tech College Prep High School. She has been actively learning about computer science and technology since she was ten years old. She first learned how to code when she was the only girl on her robotics team and she has loved it ever since. One of her favorite computer science experiences was being in the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program at UIC in the summer of 2017. Mariah is also passionate about passing on her knowledge of technology to younger kids, especially girls. Throughout high school, she has taught robotics and programming to younger kids at her local community center. In the fall, she will be attending Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts where she is planning to double major in computer science and biblical studies. Her dream is to use technology to create solutions to urban issues and to equip people to help others in need in urban contexts.
