Lavita Williams is a Computer Science Teacher at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. Lavita has been teaching Business and Computer Science for 14 years. Lavita loves Computer Science because you have the ability to teach students how to think differently through code. Lavita received her bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems and that is where she discovered programming for the first time. Lavita has a passion for languages such as python and java. She also loves to teach robotics in all her programming classes. In addition to teaching students, Lavita is also a Code.org facilitator where she introduces teachers to the Computer Science Discovery Curriculum and shows them how they can increase computer science awareness with their students. Lavita strongly believes in CS for All and hopes with just a little bit of exposure students can see that they too can program and change the world.
