Kavi is a high school junior from Marin County with a passion for technology. Her first introduction to robotics came in 6th grade through her middle school robotics team, where she learned to build and program robots and went on to win a gold and silver medal at the International ROBOGames. In 2014, Kavi co-founded Reaching Out With Robotics, a STEM outreach organization, with her sister, and spearheaded the expansion of the program to over 5 chapters in the San Francisco Bay Area. Reaching Out With Robotics has impacted over 4,000 students through middle school programs, library programs, STEM fairs and robotics competitions. Kavi has plans to expand ROWR nationally and internationally in January 2019. During the summer prior to her junior year, Kavi interned at Marble Robot Inc., a San Francisco based robotics startup developing an autonomous fleet of delivery robots. At Marble, she worked on the operations team and spent the summer testing robots in the field, providing quality assurance to power machine learning for vision and perception algorithms, and utilizing SLAM-based mapping tools to add semantic annotations informing the behavior of robot autonomy. Upon her graduation in 2020, Kavi hopes to pursue a major in technology and focus on UI/UX design and robotics.
