Karen Connell earned her BS in Mathematics from Siena College, MA in Mathematics from SUNY Albany, MA in Instructional Technology from New York Institute of Technology and an MA in Educational Technology from Walden University. Mrs. Connell has taught mathematics and computer science for 25 years in Rockland County public schools and virtual reality summer courses at a Westchester County camp. She teaches AP Computer Science, Computer Science I,Computer Science II and Computer Science Capstone Honors at Tappan Zee High School, where she also serves as Maker Space Facilitator, Instructional Technology Coach, FIRST Robotics Competition Team Lead Advisor/Coach, Computer Science Club Advisor and Student Tech Support Lead. Mrs. Connell is an active member of the high school’s Professional Learning Community, the South Orangetown Central School District Technology Leadership Team, the Computer Science Teachers Association and the Computer Science Teachers Collegial Circle. Mrs. Connell, a NYS Master Teacher, collaborates with other Master Teachers, participating in the STEM-related professional learning communities and discovering new ways to inspire and create opportunities for students in tech-related fields.
