Ishika is an active Computer Science student, attending Dublin Jerome High School. She plans to graduate in 2020 and double major in Computer Science and Vocal Performance in university, two of her passions. Last year, she received the NCWIT Ohio Affiliate Honorable Mention award. She also had the honor of receiving the Enterprising Women Foundation Mentoring Initiative Scholarship and got the opportunity to connect with women entrepreneurs through this program. Ishika competed in the CBus Student Hack in both 2018 and 2019. In 2018, her team won the Nexosis API Award. The award-winning app included anonymous chat rooms for students to discuss hot topics such as political and social issues that students can positively discuss. The program filtered out hateful comments using the Nexosis API and her team used ReactNative for the rest of the app. She also competed in the American Computer Science League competition this year. Ishika hosted an Hour of Code session in January for middle school girls interested in computer science. She is also preparing summer programs for 2019 through the AspireIT program to encourage these girls to pursue careers in STEM fields and to defy gender norms. As an officer of the Dublin Jerome Tech Club, Ishika teaches beginners the introductory concepts of Python weekly. She also contributed to the writing of this club's grant in order to gain funding for their expansion of Computer Science to all students. Her goal is to expand the teaching of computer science to kids of all ages as well as SLC students. With the technology received, the officers of the club will support an adaptive curriculum that will benefit students of all ability levels. Ishika volunteered for Tech Corps and their partnership with the Homeless Families Foundation. She had the honor of helping teach underprivileged students programming concepts. She helped them with MIT App Inventor and Unity. As she continues her education, she would like to broaden her knowledge on more topics, including artificial intelligence, and plans on making a positive difference throughout society.
