Grace is currently a senior at Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, MN. In 2018, Grace was a Minnesota State winner of the NCWIT AiC award. In 2017, she also received the TWIST EPIC (Target Women in Science and Technology) award. Outside of school, Grace spends a lot of her time leading activities to encourage girls to participate in STEM. This spring, Grace applied for an NCWIT AspireIT grant in 2018 to create a two-week free summer program called Girls’ APPspirations for girls in grades four through eight. To bring the same opportunity to her high school, this fall, Grace founded the Girls App Development & AI club. This is the first STEM club dedicated to girls in her high school. In school, Grace has been actively competing in Science Olympiad since middle school. In 2018, she won the 5th place award in Material Science in the Science Olympiad National Tournament and helped her team win 5th place overall in the nation. Grace also is a 2019 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. She finished Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra in 11th grade and she is taking Elementary Differential Equations and AP Statistics this year. Grace aspires to become a researcher and entrepreneur with a focus on human-centered AI (artificial intelligence). Thus, she plans to major in computer science in college, with a focus on AI.
