With Masters degrees in English and Student Affairs in Higher Education, Strode is an unusual fit within the technological and computer-based leadership of the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky. His work involves connecting high school students to mentored research projects within Kentucky’s university system, motivating his students to reach for summer internship and research positions, and helping students connect their accumulated experiences to appropriate scholarships, competitions, and college matches. He annually serves as the organizing sponsor for his students in robotics, cyber-forensics, and programming competitions (and is amazed by what he learns from his brilliant students). Strode leads a biennial school field trip for students to visit the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and organizes study abroad trips for his school each year. Strode is married and lives in Bowling Green, KY.
