When I joined my high school robotics team as a freshman I had limited computing skills and experience. So the next year, I enrolled in my first high school computing course. It was awesome! I discovered that I enjoyed computing and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with seeing a program run successfully. Receiving the Aspirations in Computing Award from the Georgia affiliate, that same year, gave me the self-confidence to enroll in Advance Placement (AP) computer science as a junior. I am now focused on pursuing a double major in chemistry and computer science, after graduating from high school. NCWIT has encouraged me and many other girls to aim for the stars.
