Ever since she was nine, Alyssa has been building robots and programming outside of school at Great Minds Robotics. She has worked in Lego Mindstorms, RobotC, C#, DrRacket, and Octave and SQL. She is currently learning advanced data structures in C++ and programming in Java as part of her AP Computer Science curriculum. She was on an First Lego League team when she was younger and is currently on a VEX team with her brother. Together they have won many awards including Tournament Champions and the Design Award. They have just qualified for States this season and are hoping to make it to Worlds. Alyssa also is currently on the Executive Board for her school's Girls in STEM club which hosts weekly meetings for the high school as well as events for the younger girls in their K-12 school. In addition, she is a member of Leadership Summit, Math Honors Society, and Chinese Honors Society. This summer, Alyssa took Discrete Mathematics and Engineering to help gain a broader knowledge of computer science and open doors into Engineering. She plans to study Computer Science and/or Engineering in college. Alyssa is especially interested in graphs and path finding.
