Alison avidly pursues her interests in math, technology, and computer engineering. She is an honors student and has received Highest Honors commendations for all semesters since entering high school. Alison has been a representative of the Student Government Association and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta (math honors club), the National Honors Society, and the Math Academy. She interned at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the Climate Change Science Institute where she worked with data sets to solve uncertainties through parallel computing. Her paper on this research placed as a semi-finalist in the 2013 Intel Science Talent Search. In addition, Alison has been a member of the FHS cross country team since freshman year and was elected as both the Junior and Senior Captain. She attended the three-week Stanford Artificial Intelligence course in the Education Program for Gifted Youth Summer Institute last summer. Outside of school, Alison keeps busy lifeguarding at a local health club, running in local road races, and cooking. She will be attending the University of Washington in the fall where she will study computer engineering.
