Alexandria is a junior at the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center, KAMSC. This is where she first recognized how important computer science is to the world. Both freshman and sophomore year she received an award for excellence in all three KAMSC classes: math, science, and computer science. Only nine other students received this award. The colleges that she is interested in are the University of Michigan and Ohio State University. Sophomore year she received the NCWIT State runner up award, helping her to see a future in computer science. Now she has started a computer science club at a local middle school and continues volunteering at events that promote STEM, like GISMO, Girls Investigate Science and Math Opportunities, for middle school age girls.
