Alessandra L'Abate is a senior at the Dekalb School of the Arts. She attended the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program in 2016. She also got into and attended Georgia's Governor's Honors Program as a software Engineering major and a math minor over the summer of 2017. Alessandra founded the Girls Who Code club at her school. She is competing, along with her classmates, in the SIAM Mathworks Math Modeling Challenge. In addition to her STEM interests, Alessandra plays violin in her school's top orchestra and is a stage manager for productions at her school. She has also helped in math tutoring and other tutoring as a part of her school's NHS chapter, of which she is an executive board member. Alessandra plans to major in computer science, or a related field like computational neuroscience or cognitive computer sciences. She would like to work on research having to do with reverse engineering the brain.
