Ailyn is a junior at Metro Tech High School who was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She is currently pursuing an Associate's degree at Estrella Mountain Community College through the ACE program and is the first generation in her family to attend college. She aspires to obtain both a bachelor's and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology( MIT). She aspires to do research in alternative disposal methods of the nuclear waste that is a byproduct of nuclear power generation and poses a risk to the environment. She is currently taking AP Physics and Algebra II Honors in order to help her prepare for the challenging engineering courses she will take in college. In addition to being a college student, Ailyn believes in the importance of giving back to her community and is heavily involved in organizations like the Spanish Honors Society where she holds the position of Social Media Manager. The mission of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and to promote interest in Hispanic studies. As social media manager, Ailyn is in charge of maintaining all social media accounts for SHS in order to keep their members up to date on upcoming events and meetings. Moreover, Ailyn is also secretary for the newly established Project Unity club on campus. Project unity focuses on developing intellectual and spiritual capacities of new generations for the betterment of humanity while carrying out service projects.
