Bio

Anya has been confronting bugs since third grade when she discovered Scratch programming through a club; she has continued exploring computer science through classes and independent studies at school, online, and at the University of Washington. She interned and is currently working at Microsoft Research on the Project Catapult team, working on a deep neural network accelerator called Brainwave with the goal to provide real-time artificial intelligence to all users. She has experience in languages including Python, System Verilog, Java, JavaScript, Swift, HTML5, CSS, PHP and SQL and has also used Arduino, Lego Mindstorms, and VEX products. Another part of Anya's work with computing and technology has been to teach others what she has learned. She has hosted free Scratch courses at local elementary schools to give students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to code a chance to learn to program from an early age. At school, she runs the computer science and math clubs and is the teacher's assistant for the Computer Science II and III courses. Anya will be a freshman at Caltech in the fall of 2018.
