Mikaelyn is a 12th grader at Inglemoor High School. She is the secretary and a founding member of a technology club for women at her school. In previous years she has been a volunteer at her local Girls Who Code Club and a member of the Kenmore Junior High Robotics Team. Mikaelyn has attended DawgBytes summer camps, the University of Washington's Computer Science & Engineering K-12 outreach program. In 2014 Mikaelyn attended Microsoft’s DigiGirlz High Tech Camp for girls. In the summer of 2015 Mikaelyn got a mechanical engineering internship at Foundry10. The project she made at Foundry10 was presented at a booth at Seattle Mini Maker Fair. That same summer she participated in an underwater robotics camp at the University of Washington. In the summer of 10th grade she participated in a 7-week intensive Girls Who Code Summer Immersion program at Adobe. This experience helped her get a 8 week summer apprenticeship at Expedia the summer after 11th grade. In her free time, Mikaelyn keeps busy with archery, photography, Girl Scouts, and volunteering. Mikaelyn hopes to combine her interests of coding and teaching others by one day making a customizable computer game that helps everyone learn to code.
