Kirsi is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth. In high school, Kirsi became the first female captain of her FRC FIRST Robotics team and worked in her community to promote careers in STEM. At first Kirsi had little experience with computing and desired to fill that knowledge gap, summer of her HS sophomore year she worked for a professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth to help test software that teaches programming. The summer of 2013 following her senior year HS Kirsi interned at NASA Glenn Research Center working on building and testing circuit boards for SAR a Solar Array Regulator for a deep space habitat. Also during that summer she attended the White House's Champions of Change Event advocating for minorities in computing. Kirsi is currently a Pathways Intern (NASA Co-Op) at Johnson Space Center working with mission control.
