In her freshman year, Clara co-founded the Girls Who Code club at her school after seeing the lack of STEM and computer science courses and opportunities at her school. Since then, she has led the club, planning and facilitating weekly meetings, drafting and teaching lesson plans in HTML/CSS, Python, and RaspberryPi, highlighting women in STEM, and partnering with organizations and companies to secure field trip opportunities. In 2019, she reached out to female professionals to hold a month-long guest speaker series to bring women in tech closer to the girls in her club, as well as her school community. She hopes to continue her work for Girls Who Code, bringing more opportunities and role models to the members of her club. Currently, Clara is combining her interest in STEM and her passion for education by leading after school coding classes for girls in a local elementary school. She has designed the curriculum, writes the lesson plans, and teaches the classes. In the future, Clara hopes to pursue a degree in the physical sciences, CS, or engineering, though she knows she may change her mind due to her plethora of interests. With her love of learning, interest in STEM, and passion for education and teaching, she hopes to work at the intersection of all three so she can use her experience to give back.
