Alejandra is a high school senior who has been described as being both diligent and hard working. She has consistently proven that she is academically strong and continually challenges herself with difficult courses and activities. An activity that was very fulfilling for Alejandra was her participation in a partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation; the purpose of the partnership was to design and create a relatively inexpensive vehicle for the inspection of culverts. This experience fueled Alejandra’s desire to be an engineer. She has wanted to be an environmental engineer since middle school, and she hopes to be able to attend a four-year university to study and become one. It is her immense desire to start alleviating some of the most pressing issues dealing with the environment. But at the end of the day, Alejandra’s passion for learning is strongly backed by her desire to make her family proud.
