Annie's computer science experience began with self-teaching online, but was given the opportunity to progress tremendously when she was earned a scholarship to the Women in Technology Program at MIT for the summer of 2018. This was a strenuous coding and electrical engineering course, and it gave her the opportunity to learn Python for the first time, as well as improve her general coding skills. Attending this summer program and expanding her knowledge of computer science so greatly in those four weeks remains Annie's crowning technical achievement. Now, Annie is taking a computer science course in school (AP computer science A), and working to learn Java. In a few weeks, she will participate in the U of A Women's Hackathon, where she will work alongside her female peers to solve coding challenges. Annie plans to attend college next year, and would very much like to study computer science in some capacity, as well as participate in more hackathons, and work to involve more women in computer science.
