Mina is a junior at the Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky. She currently takes a full load of college classes specializing in STEM subjects. Mina was a Kentucky State NCWIT winner and National Honorable Mention last year. She is the INTERalliance Leadership Council Internal Systems Manager of the tri-state (KY, OH, IN). As the Internal Systems Manager, she implements new software, manages the back-end of the website, and assists in all IT committee needs from data collection to analysis. Since last summer, Mina has worked as an intern at the University of Cincinnati IT Solutions Center as a software developer intern, and helped develop a mobile application that incorporated artificial intelligence aspects. Two summers ago, Mina interned at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Research IT Data Storage Group working on programming conversion from bash to Python to promote interoperability. Mina has been a part of the FIRST program since kindergarten and has gone through every FIRST program, including Jr. FLL, FLL, FTC, and now FRC as a programmer. As the team captain and lead programmer, she led her FLL team to be the KY State champion. The most notable accomplishment was creating the first Northern Kentucky’s Makerspace. The Makerspace is a place where students can have hands-on experiences with STEAM subjects. With sponsors’ and business leaders’ help, the team raised over $150,000. She has done workshops for students and made presentations to teachers, educators, as well as foreign dignitaries. Also, as part of her team’s outreach, they helped create the Ignite Institute, the first Northern KY STEAM high school, which officially opened its doors in the Fall of 2019 school year in Boone county. They worked with the KY Governor and received a grant of $6.8 million. Throughout her FIRST experience, she has learned not only how to build and program robots, but also how to promote technology to impact the community and inspire other younger generations. Mina has also done research since 4th grade. In eighth grade, she won awards at SEFNK (first place in Computer Science middle school, NKU Informatics award), KY-SEF (second place in Robotics and Intelligent Machines), and a Broadcom Masters Nomination. Freshman year, Mina won awards at SEFNK (first place in CS, first place NKU department of CS, and Intel Excellence in CS), as well as at KY-SEF (third place in systems software, US Air Force Special Award). Sophomore year, Mina worked on ERC-721 performance on various Ethereum Testnets in which she deployed her graphic designs as crypto collectibles. She won awards at SEFNK (first place in CS, Intel Excellence in CS, and $20,000 Thomas More University Scholarship). Mina is currently doing research at Western Kentucky University that deals with transpositions created within the Monte Carlo Tree Search Artificial Intelligence Algorithm, and the Dots and Boxes Game. Mina has been participating in the Academic Team and compete in Governor’s cup since 4th grade. Math is her favorite subject and she has won many awards in various math competitions, including the 3rd place in KY State Governor’s Cup Math written test. Mina competed in Odyssey of the Mind for about eight years, going to the World Finals three times. OotM helped her to think creatively to solve problems and also use her artistic skills. Mina likes to combine technology with art. One year, she created a dragon prop whose wings were programmed to be electronically movable and its LEDs lit up based on sound. With her talent in art, she has won the Award of Excellence at the KY State PTA Reflections and Best of Show 3-D at the KYAEA All-State Art Show freshman year. Sophomore year, she won 1st in sculpture at the KY All-State Art Competition as well as three different Honorable Mention and three different Silver Key awards for the Scholastic Art Competition. In spare time, she likes to crochet blankets and toys for shelter animals. She is starting an organization to collect more crochet blankets to donate to local animal shelters. Through her journey, Mina is confident and passionate about what she wants to do in the future, namely by studying Computer Science specialized in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Cybersecurity or Mechanical Engineering with a double major in Graphical/Digital Art.
