Kaitlyn is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) girl with many years of experience and leadership in math and robotics teams. She is a junior at Fleming Island High School. She is the secretary of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Captain of the Calculus Math Team, is on the FTC Robotics Team Aluminati Industries, programmer and outreach lead on the FRC Robotics Team Resistance, and is a member of Hands and the American Sign Language (ASL) Honor Society. She has also been enrolled in Dual Enrollment computer and programming classes at St. John's River State College. Even with all of these activities Kaitlyn maintains a weighted GPA of 4.6 and unweighted of 4.0. Her many extracurricular accomplishments include: - Volunteer mentor to elementary and Girl Scout students in robotics and engineering - Serving as Master of Ceremonies at a Girl Scout Robotics Tournament in July and at a First Lego League sanctioned competition in October - Ambassador for The Mars Generation, a non-profit that provides scholarships to Space Camp to high achieving underprivileged students - The Mars Generation Nonprofit: Top 24 under 24-years-old Leaders and Innovators in STEAM and Space - Being a junior keynote and MC at $mart Women Make Change, a Junior Achievement Girls $ignature Event in October - A member of the Society of Women Engineers and started the first High School SWENext club in North East Florida - Was a panelist and speaker at Discover E's Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day Luncheon on Capitol Hill in Washington DC - Keynote Speaker at the International Manufacturing Technology Show's Student Summit After graduation, Kaitlyn plans to attend college, majoring in Biomedical engineering, and continue on to medical school. Her ultimate goal is to become an astronaut for NASA like one of her idols, Astronaut Serena Chancellor who was the speaker at her Space Camp graduation. Kaitlyn is partnering with Shiva Robotics Academy to “Pay it Forward” and offer a scholarship for a girl to go to Robotics Camp in Jacksonville. She is also partnering with Northeast Florida STEM2 Hub, FIRST like a girl, Shiva Robotics, and Renaissance Jax Inc. to encourage students to become involved in STEAM.
