Shreeya is a junior at the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science. She is a hard worker who is passionate about helping others, especially through technology. Her project, Tracking Our Heroes, was on display in the United States Capitol Building for one year. The app she coded increases the efficiency of natural disaster response. Unfortunately, Shreeya never learned how to code at school, so she worked very hard and taught herself. Along the way, she became very passionate about the problem and the solution. With this project, Shreeya has been invited to Washington, DC multiple times as well as received numerous awards at the national, state, and regional levels. Seeing she could do something she enjoyed and have it support her academics was a turning point. Shreeya’s love for computer science expanded even more during the summer of 2018 when she spent three weeks studying artificial intelligence at Stanford University. After this amazing opportunity, she realized that artificial intelligence is what she wants to spend her life working on. Shreeya is also interested in politics. At the 2017 Kentucky Model United Nations Assembly, she was her school’s candidate and was elected as the President of the UN General Assembly by over 1,500 students. In March 2018, she served at the conference and guided students to hone their critical thinking skills while engaging with a wide variety of global issues. Shreeya would like to use technology to solve these issues and many others!
