Emily is a senior at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus. She was first exposed to programming at a young age while homeschooled, starting at eight years old with online courses through AoPS and Coursera. In her sophomore year, Emily assembled a handheld Geiger counter using the bGeigie Nano kit and volunteered to collect data with it around Mississippi. As a junior, she took Introduction to Programming and Game Design, learning first about Python and then about Unity. This semester, she is taking Robotics, where she uses CAD and Arduino, and will take Intermediate Programming in her last semester at high school. Currently, she serves as a Computer Science TA, grading programming tests and tutoring students in Python. In her free time, Emily participates in clubs such as Do Something, Astronomy Club, and Film Club, as well as composing music both digitally and on the baby grand.
