Anja, a junior at Brookfield Central, first got interested in computer science in elementary school. Starting in fifth grade she led a computer programming club at her elementary school with her Girl Scout troop. In middle school, she continued to grow her interest in programming by participating in a First Lego League team through Girl Scouts and teaching classes to elementary students. In 8th grade, she led a class for girls at two elementary schools in order to get more younger girls into engineering and computer science. Along with computer science, Anja also plays the French Horn in band and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has taken AP Computer Science and Data Structures, and she continues to pursue her interests in computer science by participating in a FIRST Robotics team. In the future, Anja hopes to major in computer science in college.
