Overview: Regional Affiliates

Regional Affiliates comprise the collective, local geographic areas of the Aspirations program.  These dynamic communities evolve and expand every year with the Aspirations program, to provide support, outreach, recognition, and opportunity to technical womxn.

An Ecosystem

Each Affiliate is a partnership between regional organizations and businesses to coordinate their local ecosystem in support of the Aspirations Program each season (an academic-based year). A single NCWIT Member organization officially takes on the role of Affiliate (signing an Agreement to that effect with NCWIT). That organization then selects a person to represent them as the Lead Coordinator who directs and organizes the efforts of the regional Affiliate including:

  • Forming a Committee of volunteers
  • Guiding to completion all facets of the annual local Aspirations Awards for high school students who self-identify as women, genderqueer, or non-binary, and their educators
  • Fostering partnerships and sponsorships within the regional ecosystem to include many NCWIT members in the support of all of the AiC programs and the shared mission

Powered by Volunteers

Regional Affiliates are the heart and driving force of the Aspirations in Computing Program. All initiatives of the AiC programs exist and thrive only through the amazing dedication, support, and critical work from the hundreds of partners, volunteers, and sponsors who share our mission.

Supported by the Research and Resources of NCWIT

NCWIT supports our Affiliates with infrastructure, research, guidance and other resources in hopes of creating strong, sustainable, local ecosystems to further women in tech. One of the best resources provided by NCWIT is individual coaching from a Regional Affiliate Manager - check your Dashboard to find your current RAM's contact information.

Covering the Country

Each Affiliate is defined by aggregating a collection of counties which may cross State borders depending on the natural cultural, academic and business affiliations and boundaries of a region. Every area within the USA is covered by an Affiliate, as is Guam, Puerto Rico, our Overseas Military Bases, the US Virgin Islands, and Canada.
