Subject: 2020 COVID-19 UPDATE--NCWIT Missouri: Eastern & So. Illinois Affiliate Aspiration Awards
TO: Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Awardees and Invited Guests

In light of the health warnings of COVID-19: Coronavirus and our upcoming ceremony for NCWIT Missouri: Eastern & So. Illinois Affiliate Aspiration awards, we would like to share the following update from the AiC affiliate team and St. Louis University (SLU) sponsors. While there are no known cases of the Coronavirus on campus, the St. Louis Campus of SLU are taking a precautionary step and have cancelled all on-site classes and events through April 30, 2020. Based on this announcement and for the potential health and well-being of our Aspirations community, we are postponing the April 5th awards ceremony and plan to review options for rescheduling the event at a later time.

Congratulations from the National NCWIT office, AiC Affiliate team, and AiC sponsors to the amazing young women being honored this year for the outstanding aspirations in technology and computing achievements.

History of St. Louis and Southern Illinois Affiliate: In 2013, St. Louis students were invited to compete in the Missouri/Kansas Regional Award for Aspirations. The 2013 event was held at UMKC in Kansas City. In 2014, local St. Louis residents decided to host our own St. Louis event. The Inaugural St. Louis Award for Aspirations ceremony was held on the afternoon of Saturday, March 8th, 2014 (International Women's Day) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus in the Millennium Center from 1-4pm. Monsanto, UMSL, Thomson Reuters, Spry Digital served as the 2014 sponsors for this event. The Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, Centric Group, and Mastercard provided support for the 2014 event, too.
