High School Speaker in Northern California Area

Opportunity Region:
California: Northern California
High Schooler

From Megan Yamoah, a rising high school senior and outreach organizer for the high school robotics team (Team 1678 Citrus Circuits) in Davis, California: The team aims to empower high school students in STEM fields and teach both technical and practical skills through the FIRST Robotics Competition. As part of our efforts, we create numerous outreach projects and host community events, including an annual WiSTEM Lecture Series aimed encouraging middle and high school girls to explore STEM fields.

This fall, the team will be hosting the second annual WiSTEM Lecture Series with the goal of expanding our community’s understanding and appreciation of past, present, and future of female STEM professionals. As part of this, we believe it would be wonderful to invite a young woman (around high school age) to speak about her experiences and contributions to a STEM field as well as any ideas she may have concerning the future of women in STEM. The speaker would speak for around 30 minutes and participate in a short Q&A period.

Please let me know if you know if you would like more information about our team, goals, or the event.
